What to do what to do....

OK SO I had been a stay at home mom for a long time. Recently I returned to work so my husband wouldn't have to get a second job. Well he got a second job anyway and is now begging me to quit my job. He has always grown up with his mom at home and its all he wants for his own child too. Its what I want more than ANYTHING!!! but....I cant help but feel guilty that hes working two jobs and I'm sitting at home....It would be SO awesome I would have SO much more time and be able to get back to my Etsy store, and start making things again! BUT...my mother would want me to be over at her house every day to take care of her too...So I still wouldn't be getting anything done My house would be a mess and I would be a depressed heap of goo...(long story about my mother We will save it for another day) So I sit here on the verge of deciding to do what I want more than anything and all I keep thinking about is my overbearing mother taking over my life again...I just don't know what to do!

Any advice?

Well, for what it's worth. You need to do what you need to do for your immediate family. If there is a financial need, I would then tell my husband that I would work for, say, 6 months and see what effect it has on the household finances. If after 6 months it hasn't made a difference, then stay home. There have been studies that two income/two working parent homes do not necessarily make more money because the second spouse ends up spending more money to work (childcare, car expenses, food for lunch at work, eating out because there is less time to cook, etc.) If staying home means having to spend more time taking care of your mother (which might be necessary) and that takes away from your family, then maybe you shouldn't stay home. Well, there are no easy answers. Sit down and put pen to paper, pros/cons and really talk to hubby. I know I don't know the whole picture with your mother, so that part of the story could really make a difference.

i know i loved having my mom at home. knowing someone was there when i got home from school...things like that. i say if you can stay home, then do it. you might regret it later if you don't.
just my opinion...for what its worth.
