Reminder...

It seems every time some one close to me dies....I am reminded to treasure my life more. Why is it that we take so much for granted....Our health, Our jobs, Our money, our things...I think to myself...I am going to change...I am going to be a better human...Life is short...Time to live it up...but then you return to life as usual...Are we really all just stuck on this plane of existence where we have a sudden realization of great truth only to remain just as we were...

Are we really so blinded today to the beauty of life? How does one find it again?

I cant say more than that this is ALL I can release to SIS! But trust me it will be Super! GO and check out the photos in a larger format over at My SIS Profile! I will be posting up more and more of my papers...I even have an in at a local printing company I might be able to get these printed as Patterned Papers to sell on my Etsy site! CHECK BACK SOON!!

I love it when mistakes turn out so wonderfully!

SO this layout was going to be my submission for SSC29 but I didnt read the rules completely and totally botched the challenge! I started over and all is well! But For this little mistake it turned out to be a rather awesome Lay out if I do say so myself! I got Cardboard right but not much else lol! I just saw this yellow card board from my DH's Doc Martin boots and had to cut it up and scrap it! SO i painted on it first and just let some stuff spew all over the place. The photo is from our western Carribian cruise we took in 2004. This is my daughter and my husband in a kayak on the beach! I am really loving clustering right now! I think all my Lay outs are starting to look the same LOL! Most of these things here came in kits so I don't know what they are as far as manufacturer but what i do remember is The Red swirly sticker is Hambly, The paper flowres are Primas, The stickers on the photo are MM The Go see do stamp and finger pointing stamp are Studio Calico Originals. The PP is American crafts, Notebook paper Unknown, the little button and crown were little embellies in a kit...either studio calico or Poppy ink dont know which!

Here is the real Submission for SSC#29 Rules were followed...It was a really hard one for me...I'm not sure why Perhaps it was the thoughts I had to write down...I have a constant thought stream at all times so catching one is REALLY hard..or that I had to end it in a question...felt unfinished. Whatever it was I do love this one it turned out fabulously! Great colors and just fun!

OK so Week six of Project Catwalk over at SISTV and I was WAY excited about my LO this time around...Its absolutely one of my favorites that I have done of myself so far! I edited the photo with Cross Processing effect in photo shop rounded the edges and sanded and inked the edges as well I cut out a sunburst on my Cricut with some sass paper and painted some grunge and chip board I free handed the flower in the middle because it was totally fun! Then framed it with Daisy D's Rub on dispenser! ( SO cool Love these things! ) And of course some cute little butterflies! I love the Drama on this one. The challenge was to create drama with very few products...I think I met the challenge...but I might have used more products then most the others, I don't really care this ones for me anyway!

Project Catwalk Week 5 Wall Hanging

This is my submission for the Project Catwalk Week5 at SIS tv...I missed last week but i was able to get this one done and BOY do my hands hurt! Our challenge was to make a wall hanging at least 4x6 with the primary material as DENIM! I had plenty of ideas flow through my brain as I picked through the thrift store trying to get some inspo....What i bought wasn't working for me at all....so I didn't submit it till the last minute...naturally this is where i thrive... last minute procrastination! LOL SO i grab my supplies determined that i was going to make these thrift store finds work...so I started painting..then i grabbed the jeans and started cutting and after an hour of deliberation on what that flower was going to look like....and after a VERY sore hand! (sewing denim SUX!!) I got the finished product! I am rather pleased with it...Everyone's submissions so far have been amazing also!

Update the ole blog - and other ramblings

Its all new!! And fresh and LOOOK at the cute little blog birdie!:D Ive added a lot of new stuff! MORE will be added too! I'm having lots of fun with it! Enjoy some of my favorite music that inspires me while I create! Music helps me a lot! I created a banner as well! Please see the side bar for credit given to the designers of the elements used! I really like this one a lot better! It flows better too! Enjoy!

Im kinda in a bit of a slow creative period because Ive been working loads of hours at work. We are down 4 people so we have 5 people doing the work of 9 or 10 its been rough...they wont be replacing any of the people we are down either! REALLY frustrating! Ive been searching for a new job I hope i get something here really soon! Also its back to school time so weve been getting ready for that. My daughter is the most excited second grader on the planet! She wants school to start right now! LOL!

OH it is thee that stifles me!

I notice more and more what has been stifling my creativity...I work in a gray building with gray walls gray floors gray tile gray bathrooms grey break room grey EVERYWHERE I have NO windows NOTHING there is a small patch of grass outside I go and lay on during my break which helps break up the monotony of greyness that attacks me everyday! SO on top of the monotoned office they are constantly changing things every day and it gets so frustrating mostly because your already feeling drained because of the colors but because you feel how much more of my blood sweat and tears do they want!! Im TAPPED out! SO I have decided that I should probably look at other avenues because I MUST create! Otherwise my thoughts consume me! I really wish I could just stay home again...but I feel bad staying home when I have a child in school all the time now....Ah well we will see! Only time will tell!

LOVIN this Digi stuff

Ok I have been SOOOO in love with doing digi's that I have even learned how to make my own elements! They are soooo much fun! I want to do nothing else! SO I made some stamps/brushes in PS CS and I have to say they turned out quite awesome! Shown in the Layout to the left are some cool stuff I have learned how to make! AH so much awesome funness! OK so underneath the smaller pic you will see some bubble wrap looking stuff YEA that's a bubble wrap stamp I made On photo shop! its a bit bigger than that but For placement reasons this is all you get to see! ALSO that fab scallop I made that too AND I can change it to WHATEVER color I WANT! So awesome!

On this LO I only made one of the elements That's the white scallop behind the pic! YEA it was sooo fun too! With digi there are NO scrap boundaries and NO limits! I am having so much fun! I still love my paper scrappin but I'm currently addicted to digi!

What to do what to do....revisted

Thanks for the advice ladies! Both of your suggestions are very helpful! For right now we have decided that I will keep working at least until a bothersome loan is paid in full. (quickly) I know that my daughter wants me to be home too! And I know that she will be so happy to be able to walk to school again!

Some more information about my mother, Where to begin...Well about three years ago My mother and I had a great relationship we talked we did fun things together and we had a very nice give and take relationship. About this time we were hanging out together and she fell and broke both her knee caps on the pavement. I took care of her I helped her get to her doctors appointments and surgeries and took care of her when she was laid up! I lived with her neglecting the needs of my family so she would have the 24 hour care she needed. Because of these injuries her attitude changed she was depressed and she started saying some really hurtful things. Makes me feel guilty about money she lent to me when i was 16 (mind you this is almost 13 years ago!) She kept a running tab from the time i was sixteen and expected me to pay her back because she was unable to work anymore. This is about the time my depression took a deep rooted hold on me. She knows exactly how to play onto my guilt and she makes me miserable. FF to now...she just had her last surgery and all she keeps saying is you should quit your job so you can take care of me. My husband and I are so concerned about her being so needy of me and that means I don't take care of my own family needs. She makes it seem that I am more obligated to her then my own daughter and husband.

I'm still trying to recover emotionally from the last time i spent copious amounts of time with her...I am so not ready for another! I don't mean to sound cold towards her because she is my mom but I cant exactly efficiently explain how the situation is. I hope this helps explain away some of my reasoning's!

Stumble Upon Toolbar

What to do what to do....

OK SO I had been a stay at home mom for a long time. Recently I returned to work so my husband wouldn't have to get a second job. Well he got a second job anyway and is now begging me to quit my job. He has always grown up with his mom at home and its all he wants for his own child too. Its what I want more than ANYTHING!!! but....I cant help but feel guilty that hes working two jobs and I'm sitting at home....It would be SO awesome I would have SO much more time and be able to get back to my Etsy store, and start making things again! BUT...my mother would want me to be over at her house every day to take care of her too...So I still wouldn't be getting anything done My house would be a mess and I would be a depressed heap of goo...(long story about my mother We will save it for another day) So I sit here on the verge of deciding to do what I want more than anything and all I keep thinking about is my overbearing mother taking over my life again...I just don't know what to do!

Any advice?

ORGANIZED!!

I have finally finished organizing and setting up my scrap space! Its all done! Its FINITO!! Its just too pretty I don't want to mess it up by working on it! HA Phooey I have been scrapping anyway! SO...ONTO The photos!

This is a photo of my main work area Here i have everything I need at hand quickly. The desk is a fabulous thrift store find for 20 bucks and all the drawers measure at 14x14 so they are PERFECT!! AND I can ink it scratch it sand it and epoxy it and I DON'T CARE!! HA! (well to a certain extent I do BUT that's what its there for right!) The cute little shelf in the middle is an heirloom shelf from my mom so its special too me but it just makes all my scrappy colorful stuff look SOOOOO happy! Doesn't it! (close ups coming) Another FABULOUS find is the brown chest of drawers, I picked this up at a yard sale for 2 bucks and its perfect for storing A LOT of stuff it has my round stamp rollers, some chipboard, some accessories, some unfinished projects, some ink and just a perfect fit!

The Heirloom Shelf

Here you go as promised! On this shelf I store things that inspire me and things I like to look at because it is LITERALLY in my face as I'm working! SO i have my collection of 7Gyspies stamps that I LOVE!!They are huge and bulky but they are SO versatile and I use them A LOT so they're great These are are on the top because I need to look at them! :D Next we have some things That I made for myself for inspiration! Across from that my small but colorful paint collection. Then on the bottom I have cute tins full of goodies, I have felt ribbon, Primas, Jewels, gems, emboss powder, water color and my trusty stapler!

The Embellishment hangers

These are SOOOO easy to do! I have three more I want to hang! Just have to figure out where LOL! OK first Go to home depot and in their Curtain rod area they have a vast array of them. This is what I used (she photos) 5/16" swivel Sash rod 21"-38" This one is by Design View. I'm pretty sure you can find these just about anywhere and they were only $1.99.

Mounting them! OK so the first picture shows a mounted on Underneath a shelf in my closet where I scrap. The second one shows them mounted from wall to wall! If your going to do this into the wood of your shelf do yourself a favor and drill a hole FIRST!! Then Hang your rod on the hooks provided. Before you start adding your goodies to the rack you MUST brace the middle (see third pic) I used a Ceiling hook to hold the middle up and it keeps them VERY Sturdy! When Hanging from wall to wall there isn't much need to do this unless you are extending it out. In this case another form of anchor will be needed.

The Clips! OK So Some of these are Clip it up clips and others are ones that I found at the local craft store for much cheaper. They say on the packaging "badge clips" If you want to know for sure what I'm using go here http://shop.clipitup.com/product.sc?categoryId=1&productId=4
For the most part I have been using the off brand ones. You have to bend open the hanger on the clip with pliers so that they move on the rail fluidly! And your now on your way to organized scrappyness!

My cutting Station

I call this part my cutting station because I have all my card stock. My Cricut and Purple cow are over here. And This is also where I use my fierce tools Like My Dremmel tool and heat gun. All I have to do is swivel my chair around and I can start something in the cricut or cut my paper and go back to my desk This is SUCH a great set up for me! Everything is at my fingertips!

Well there you have it! I love to look at other people craft spaces too SO post yours in my comments I will look! Thanks!

I didnt fall off the face of the earth....

Just tripped a little bit on the way! So my last post was Just as I was planning a very large online auction for a non profit community I do fund raising for and when that's going on I don't do anything but that! And it keeps me very busy up through the first of April which is coincidentally when I went back to work after years of being a Stay at home mom. Working has changed my priorities drastically and it sorta makes me sad! I miss being able to just spend HOURS crafting and Blogging, and just well being me! I do only work Part time now so life is a little more manageable but its been a HUGE adjustment! I went THREE months with out scrapping Its been even longer since I have made a piece of Jewelery... And even longer still since I have painted or altered a wooden box....I miss so much all the things I love to do for a creative release. I have just started getting back into scrapping again I have done 4 layouts now since my absence You will have to tell me what you think of them!

I am co-founder of DemiGod Studio, an ecclectic duo of craft & art show afficionados. When I'm not working on plans for our own shop & workshop, I bide my time coming up with new and inventive ways to use up the stockpile of paper I've accumulated over the years.
